|Coca-Cola Enterprises Warns of 288 Possible Job Cuts|
Coca-Cola Enterprises (CCE) has warned that 288 jobs are at risk across the UK, due to a planned change to the way its distributes its products.
The company, which produces and distributes Coca-Cola drinks across Europe, said it was proposing to end direct deliveries to restaurants.
The jobs could go at CCE's sites in Bristol, East Kilbride, North London, Northampton, Sidcup and Wakefield.
The Unite union said it was a "devastating blow".
CCE, which employs 4,400 people in the UK, said: "We have now started a full consultation on these proposals with our employee representative bodies and the Unite trade union.
"We do not make these proposals lightly and we will, of course, be looking to minimise redundancies as far as possible and will offer support to help colleagues through this process."
Unite national officer for food and drink Jennie Formby said that the union's immediate priority was to get "full details of the reasoning behind this decision and to examine what alternatives there could be for our members".
CCE said that 32 positions were at risk at its East Kilbride facility.
